While working with a client to prepare for her impending move a few days ago she told me about Clean Carton Company. They are a local company that sells boxes at a discount of 30%-50% off what you would normally pay. Typically, the boxes are new and have printing from industry on them. Clean Carton Company purchases obsolete, misprinted, overstock, and close out boxes by the truckload from a wide range of manufacturers and industrial suppliers. Since they pay less for the boxes than new stock boxes, their customers pay less as well. They also stock the rest of the… read more »

Serving food at parties…simplified

My motto, and I believe an organized motto, is that you can never plan too early. With the hustle and bustle of the holidays, or really with any get together you plan, there are so many things you can do in advance that will really simplify things for you and allow you to really have time to enjoy your guests. As you can see in this picture, everything is on the table that I’ll need for my get together except for the hot and the cold dishes that you can’t really put out until the last minute. It’s actually much… read more »

People are often embarrassed for some reason that I instinctively know how to organize (and love every second of it) and they don’t. Truth be told, I bet there’s a bunch of you that instinctively know how to cook (and love every second of it) and are brilliant at it. I am not – and that’s putting it mildly. For those of you that can actually tell how something is going to taste just by reading the recipe, this blog’s for you. Following are some great meal planning resources available online. Enjoy! I invested in my first-ever iPhone last month and am amazed at all of the fantastic apps available out there. Here are a list of just a few that sound intriguing to me (and might be helpful to you): Must Read! – Keeps a running list of books you want to read. Search by author, title, subject or other. BillTrack – Keeps up with bills. You can even set up recurring bills, but then they’re set up for the same amount each month. Beatthetraffic – Lets you know where the traffic is backed up so you can take a different… read more »

It’s not about the perfect food!

For many, many years I ran around preparing for Christmas and other holidays so that everything would be picture perfect. Whether I was hosting the event, or attending it at someone else’s house, I would feel the entire weight of the event on my shoulders. I wanted everything to be perfect for everyone – which it usually was. I always had all of the great treats and dishes I made sitting out on the table when guests arrived. The cups, silverware, serving utensils and everything else would be right in their place, ready to be used. As the event went… read more »

Yikes, it’s December 1st!

Once December rolls around, the stress and frenzy of the upcoming holidays begins to bubble up within us. As hard as we try to fight it, we usually end up succumbing to it eventually. I am very excited about Christmas this year. Usually I procrastinate about it for much too long and then end up running out and cramming all of my shopping into 1-2 days. Since I’m mentally prepared for Christmas this year, I can see that I’m taking a more proactive approach than usual and it’s already paying off. I am asking people what they want or need… read more »
