What is a professional organizer? What do they do?

Last updated on

Our website explains that professional organizers use a combination of coaching, teaching and providing hands-on assistance to help individuals get organized and regain control of their homes, offices and lives. They provide compassionate support to their clients and help them stay focused and motivated during the process. The following fun and clever list that was recently compiled by the members of the National Association of Professional Organizers spells it out even better. Enjoy! Big Picture Breaker Downer – Professional organizers can take your big picture thoughts and break them down into manageable steps to get you there. Category Queen –… read more »

A heavy price for keeping stuff

Last updated on

Sometimes people searching for help squirm at the costs of hiring a professional organizer to help them get organized. Most everyone that calls us is feeling pain in one way or another – stress, emotions, overwhelmed, etc. Don’t get me wrong, there are many people that see the value in hiring a professional organizer, but there are some that don’t because I don’t think they can truly see the price they’re paying for not getting organized. Recently a local 75 year old woman was found dead in her home that was packed full of stuff she saved. Among the clutter,… read more »

Want to be on TV?

I was contacted by the Casting Director for the TV Show Enough Already! with Peter Walsh. They are looking for individuals and families that are in desperate need of a professional organizer but who cannot afford it and have nowhere to turn. Although they have fantastic submisisons from people suffering with the weight of their clutter, they are still on the hunt for that BIG story. They are looking for deserving people who need the help of a professional organizer to get their lives in order, who are finally ready to say goodbye to chaos and clutter, and hello to… read more »

My story

Last updated on

I often share the story of why I’m so passionate about people getting rid of the things they don’t need or want so that they can help someone else. I tell this story in the hopes that people will understand how much their unwanted stuff can help others. Normally after sharing this story, people feel motivated to purge their unwanted stuff so it seemed like a fitting story to share here. I have been a single mother since my daughters were 3 years old and 6 months old. Their father didn’t pay child support like he was supposed to and… read more »

In life, as in business, we have to choose our priorities. And we must let other things go. My business priorities are serving our clients and running a successful business. Blogging falls very low on my list of priorities since we stay connected by posting daily tips to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. So if you’re not following us there, you should. Since we go to… read more »

We’ve got a winner! Valiha Strecker posted the winning comment on last week’s blog and won her own set of Rubbermaid Drawer Organizers. Congratulations Valiha and thanks Rubbermaid for making this contest possible! I was extremely excited about Valiha’s response when I notified her that she’d won the contest. With her permission, I’m sharing portions of her email here. Well, I have to say that your posts really got me motivated. I not only cleaned out our junk drawer but I also conquered one one of our closets and then got started on our basement… which is a mess! And… read more »

Today I go face to face with one of my biggest fears – public speaking. I’ve blogged about it here before. My focus this last year has been to work really hard to overcome this fear. I will be speaking with some other fantastic women today at Webster University on Breakthroughs to Success. I will be talking about how clutter and disorganization stops you from being all that you were created to be. We’ll discuss the various feelings associated with keeping things and why it’s hard to tackle your clutter mountains. Then I’ll be sharing some practical tips and information… read more »
