As you may have noticed, I have not been very good at blogging each and every day. Sometimes I don’t even blog once a week. As a small business owner I realize the importance of blogging, and the need to do it consistently. However, in my work as a Certified Professional Organizer, CPO® I help people manage and prioritize things in their lives. I teach them that we have to make decisions on things we can let go of. I know that we can’t always do everything we want to do or would do in a perfect world. We have… read more »

I passed the exam!

In the professional organizing industry, the credential CPO means Certified Professional Organizer. There are only 7 CPO’s in the state of Missouri, and only a few hundred nationwide. In order to become a CPO you must have at least 1500 hours of experience working with clients, 250 of those hours can be earned through continuing education credits. You must also pass a 2 hour exam which includes questions on project management, basic organizing principles, legal and ethical considerations and more. I am thrilled to say that I sat for, and passed, the CPO exam on June 24, 2010. I hope… read more »

Distractions

Today is my office day, a time to catch up on all of the background stuff it takes to run a business. As you can see I’ve been letting my blogging slide quite a bit. In life, as in business, we have to choose our priorities. And we must let other things go. My business priorities are serving our clients and running a successful business. Blogging falls very low on my list of priorities since we stay connected by posting daily tips to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. So if you’re not following us there, you should. Since we go to… read more »

Unwanted crutches find new home

Last updated on

So many times when I am working with clients, I will do whatever I can to find a new home for their unwanted stuff, rather than having it go into a landfill and be wasted. I’ve been doing some research on where I could donate 3 pairs of crutches that a client no longer needed. They are still in excellent condition. What I found was several places that will take your used wheelchairs, crutches, walkers and canes, and get them into the hands of people that really need those items. If you have medical type items that you would like… read more »

Choose people over things

Today’s blog post comes from Harold Taylor of Taylor In Time. What a great reminder. Make a list of the people you really enjoy spending time with. How much time did you spend with those people during the past week? Last month? Last year? Chances are there are people – perhaps family members – who are being crowded out of your life because of your busyness. Some people are so busy networking; they have little time for anyone who is not a business associate. Be careful that you don’t allow the people who count to be crowded out by things that… read more »
