Cleaning for a reason

There’s nothing that makes me happier than seeing people who realize that THEY can really make a difference in other’s lives. We all can. Today’s post is about a great FREE service that started when someone realized what a gift their housekeeping skills could be to someone in need, and then did something about it. I know that I’ve mentioned this here before but it’s worth repeating. If you know any woman currently undergoing chemotherapy, please pass the word on to her that there is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning – once per month for 4 months while… read more »

Recycle Christmas light strands

Last updated on

I’m learning that alot of what we throw away has value and can be recycled rather than ending up in a landfill. Christmas light strands can be recycled 100%. In this article from the KTVI-FOX 2 website, they say that “there is so much copper in a strand of lights, the plastic and the glass all gets recycled. It just gets shredded and they can re-use the whole thing. Since it’s 100% recyclable, it just doesn’t make sense to throw them in the trash.” At most area Walmart stores, big boxes sit in the garden center begging for bundles of… read more »

Where did I put that email?

When you stop to think about how much time you waste (lose) searching for things, and the amount of stress it causes, you will understand the value of taking the time to get things organized. You will gain back the time you spent getting organized in no time, and you will save lots more time and stress on top of that! These days we all spend a lot of time on the computer. How many times have you wasted valuable time looking for documents that you know are on your computer, somewhere? It is important to set up your electronic… read more »

All it takes is baby steps

Last updated on

When you feel overwhelmed by your clutter or disorganization, it’s paralyzing. You don’t have a clue where to even begin because the problem seems so big. If you can at least begin making some type of baby steps, you will eventually advance to bigger steps. But it all starts with just baby steps. I’ve been struggling with my weight for the last few years and I often reflect on how similar losing weight is to getting organized. There isn’t a simple or quick fix for either of them. Many of our clients would love to just buy a book on… read more »

Yikes, it’s December 1st!

Last updated on

Once December rolls around, the stress and frenzy of the upcoming holidays begins to bubble up within us. As hard as we try to fight it, we usually end up succumbing to it eventually. I am very excited about Christmas this year. Usually I procrastinate about it for much too long and then end up running out and cramming all of my shopping into 1-2 days. Since I’m mentally prepared for Christmas this year, I can see that I’m taking a more proactive approach than usual and it’s already paying off. I am asking people what they want or need… read more »

How well do you know recycling?

Last updated on

Test your recycling savvy by answering true or false to the following questions: #6 plastics and Styrofoam can’t be recycled because they can’t be made into new products. – FALSE: #6 plastics can be made into new products, but in the St Louis region, the costs to recover them exceed their market value. This means it doesn’t make economic sense to include #6 plastics in curbside programs Plastic bags should not be recycled curbside because they gum up the sorting equipment. – TRUE: Plastic bags and film end up wrapping around the automated sorting equipment causing shutdowns. Please do not… read more »

My story

Last updated on

I often share the story of why I’m so passionate about people getting rid of the things they don’t need or want so that they can help someone else. I tell this story in the hopes that people will understand how much their unwanted stuff can help others. Normally after sharing this story, people feel motivated to purge their unwanted stuff so it seemed like a fitting story to share here. I have been a single mother since my daughters were 3 years old and 6 months old. Their father didn’t pay child support like he was supposed to and… read more »
