I’m in the spotlight!

Last updated on

How exciting! One of the most popular organizing websites and blogs, Organizing Junkie has chosen to honor me today in their Summer Organizer Spotlight series. The Organizing Junkie, Laura first heard about me when she stumbled across our partnering website that I had just launched, The Stuff Stop. It was fun answering all of her questions and quite an honor to be recognized by someone of such high esteem. You can find the article here. While you’re on her website, spend some time exploring it. It is jam packed with lots of great information.

Our stuff can trigger painful memories

My youngest daughter got married last week. Since she loves to cook (I do not), I decided that the perfect wedding present for her would be to create her own recipe box filled with our family recipes that she could take with her. That way she would be taking good memories of home and the many times we cooked those items together throughout her life too. While I was going through the recipes and retyping them for her, I stumbled across this recipe that my brother printed out just before his death. As you can see, I wrote on the… read more »

Simple crafty recycling idea

In response to my blog last week about giving your Christmas cards to St Jude’s Ranch for Children, I received the following suggestion from one of our blog readers, Debra Lagemann with Seven Sisters Home Designs. With her permission I am copying it here for you to enjoy. I think it’s a fantastic idea! “I keep this year’s Christmas cards to make next year’s gift tags. I cut out a pretty, cute or fun picture from the front, punch a hole into it, write to and from on the back and tie it onto the package. Every tag is different,… read more »

An exciting announcement – The Stuff Stop®

Last updated on

I’m writing today about a dream of mine that has finally come true. I’ve always been passionate about connecting people’s unwanted stuff with people who need that very stuff. I was passionate about this long before I became a professional organizer and that passion has only gotten stronger since I began seeing how much stuff was ending up in landfills. Last Wednesday I launched a new website that I created called The Stuff Stop®. The Stuff Stop®. is a FREE nationwide community resource that helps people dispose of the things they no longer need, use or love in a responsible,… read more »

Get ready for tax time

You may be scrambling around trying to find all of your paperwork for your 2011 taxes. Why not plan ahead for next year’s taxes now. I’m sure you already have paperwork coming at you that you have to keep for 2012. It’s not too early to determine a home for your 2012 receipts to live in for the year. The 13-pocket expanding file is one of my all-time favorite organizing products. And it’s so inexpensive on top of that! Simply file your receipts by vendor – Target, Office Max, etc. If you enter your receipts into an accounting program throughout… read more »

Simple gift wrap station

Last updated on

Look what we stumbled upon while helping a client organize their basement last week. It’s a gift wrap station that they created themselves. I was so impressed with the simplicity of it and how well it worked that I asked their permission to share it with you. All they did was used a peg board and 6” long (and longer) peg board hooks to create the base for holding the wrapping paper. Then they simply slid a dowel rod through the center of the wrapping paper rolls so that it would lay on the peg board clamps and turn seamlessly.… read more »

Great resources for meal planning

People are often embarrassed for some reason that I instinctively know how to organize (and love every second of it) and they don’t. Truth be told, I bet there’s a bunch of you that instinctively know how to cook (and love every second of it) and are brilliant at it. I am not – and that’s putting it mildly. For those of you that can actually tell how something is going to taste just by reading the recipe, this blog’s for you. Following are some great meal planning resources available online. Enjoy! E-Mealz is very reasonably priced and will create… read more »
