One of my all time favorite products is Freedom Filer. The beauty of the Freedom Filer system is that every detail has already been thought through for you. There is a ton of information included with the Freedom Filer kit and online to help you with any questionable paper you may have. Most systems take too long to file and retrieve information. The Freedom Filer makes filing paper as easy as dropping it in the trash. To receive a 15% discount on your purchase, visit the Freedom Filer website through this link. Wouldn’t you like to boast that you never… read more »

Kitchen cabinet project

Last updated on

This was a quick little project I did in my own kitchen. I don’t keep things perfectly organized in my own home with cute little bins and labels simply because I don’t really need to since I don’t have a ton of stuff to manage. However, the cleaning supplies and such under my kitchen sink had always sort of irritated me. It was never a challenge to find what I needed, but I would always inadvertently knock over anywhere from 1-5 things each time I reached for something in the back. Then I would have to take the time to… read more »

Where has the time gone? It’s so hard to believe that 2013 will be coming to an end before we know it! You know what that means? It’s time to start preparing for 2014. The most important thing you’ll need for an organized 2014 is a calendar or planner to capture all of the appointments, school schedules and other things you’ve already got scheduled for next year. I picked up my new planner today and have used a picture of it in this blog post. I love this particular planner made by Blue Sky and have used this style for… read more »

Spice storage is a real problem for most people. Either there are too many spices and so you can’t see them all, they’re stored too high to see them all or a host of other problems. This product looks like a fantastic solution to alot of the problems that people encounter trying to manage their spices. These spice rack storage organizers attach to the back of a door or can be hidden away inside a cabinet. And they allow you to easily see all of your spices.

We’ve got a winner! Valiha Strecker posted the winning comment on last week’s blog and won her own set of Rubbermaid Drawer Organizers. Congratulations Valiha and thanks Rubbermaid for making this contest possible! I was extremely excited about Valiha’s response when I notified her that she’d won the contest. With her permission, I’m sharing portions of her email here. Well, I have to say that your posts really got me motivated. I not only cleaned out our junk drawer but I also conquered one one of our closets and then got started on our basement… which is a mess! And… read more »

After completing all of the steps we’ve discussed already, you’re finally down to what will actually stay in the space. Now it’s time to figure out what containers to use for the items that are staying. Thank goodness in this project we already know what containers we’re using thanks to Rubbermaid. They gave me a set of drawer organizers to try out and want to gift a set to one of my blog readers that leaves a comment…hint, hint. The winner will be selected Monday. Before selecting your container, you’ll need to make sure that the container is the right… read more »

Organization 101 – day three

Step Three Now that we’ve gotten rid of everything that doesn’t belong in this space, we can get a clearer picture of the things that will really be living there. Sort the remaining items into groups, or categories, of like things with like things. In our example, I’ve grouped the tools that will stay with the other tools that will stay, the batteries with the batteries, the screws together, etc. This step helps you to take another look at how much you have of each item and perhaps to let go of any other excess you might not have realized… read more »
