If you are currently in the market for a new house, I’ve got a great FREE online tool for you to use. My friend, and super real estate agent, Lindsey Johnson-Jacobs with the Susie O Johnson Team has a webpage that allows you to search for homes like an agent. You simply enter your search criteria and then each morning you get a report if there are price reductions or new listings that come on the market in the price range and area that you are interested in. Sellers can also sign up for a free account to see what homes are selling for around them.

People always ask me if my home is in perfect order, well it isn’t always. I do have a home for everything though, and so when it gets chaotic or I need to put everything back where it belongs, it doesn’t take long. You know, I have always been aware of the mental drain that a chaotic home or office environment has on people’s lives, but I recently got a taste of it first-hand.
I had the great fortune of meeting Tom Ponche last week. Tom, an eldercare advisor, works for A Place For Mom which is a free online service for seniors and their families. They offer free eldercare advice and referrals. Since assisting seniors and their families is one of our specialties, Tom will be using our team as a resource when seniors need help downsizing, de-cluttering and preparing their home for sale, getting their paperwork in order and to assist families with the physical mess that is left behind after the loss of a loved one when their emotions are already running high.
As Membership Director and Newsletter Editor for NAPO St Louis, I have the opportunity to meet many fantastic people and companies in this industry that can help my clients.
I can still remember a time so vividly, almost like it happened yesterday. When in fact, it’s been closer to 20 years ago (yikes!). I was a recently divorced, single mother of two young girls, 6 months old and 3 years old. I held a very good full time job, but since we were not receiving any type of financial support from their father or my family, and I had to pay ENORMOUS daycare bills, were struggling to put it mildly.
At this time of year so many people are tackling their clutter filled basements. A great resource to donate your unwanted items to is OASIS International. This fantastic ministry takes your donations and passes them on to immigrants that come to the St Louis area with absolutely nothing. So many of our clients have donated unwanted furniture to OASIS International and the great part is that they will come in a truck, staffed with movers, and pick up your items for you. There is a minimal charge for this service, but our clients have all agreed that the convenience of it far outweighs the charge. You benefit from decluttering your home and the recipients of your donations benefit as well. I love a win-win situation!
After months of waiting you finally sold your house and are preparing to move. Here’s a quick check list to guide you through the process.
While working with a client to prepare for her impending move a few days ago she told me about Clean Carton Company. They are a local company that sells boxes at a discount of 30%-50% off what you would normally pay. Typically, the boxes are new and have printing from industry on them. Clean Carton Company purchases obsolete, misprinted, overstock, and close out boxes by the truckload from a wide range of manufacturers and industrial suppliers. Since they pay less for the boxes than new stock boxes, their customers pay less as well. They also stock the rest of the packing supplies you’re likely to need such as mover’s tape, bubble pack, cushion foam, newsprint and glass pads to help protect your fragile and delicate possessions. Free delivery is available.
