Healthy Back to School Tips
As I’ve mentioned before, getting organized and dieting, or eating healthy, have alot in common. A big part of being successful in both areas is taking the time to make a plan. Once you take the time to make the plan, the execution is much simpler. Here are some healthy back to school tips from Dr Matt Wheeler with Corrections Chiropractics (You can sign up for their e-newsletter which always features lots of simple healthy tips.):
Breakfast is really the most important meal of the day.
- These foods are not good choices: Pop tarts, Lucky Charms, white toast and jelly, or the worst of all, nothing.
- Kids need fuel just like the rest of us. A better choice would be oat bran and eggs.
- Eggs are one of the best protein sources available. There have been reports of eggs raising cholesterol, if you eat a dozen eggs a day, maybe they will. A report last week sited that eggs can actually lower blood pressure.
- If you’re short on time, have them grab whole wheat toast or a bagel, with organic peanut butter.
- Juice has tons of sugar in it, with very little fruit juice, especially those that are kept at room temperature. If you’re going to buy juice, get one that is as natural as can be.
